History

[Music Director] [Accompanist]

In the fall of 2002, several women gathered to discuss the possibility of forming a new women’s choral organization.  It was the vision of Deborah Lutz to establish a women’s ensemble that would provide exceptional quality and programming of short form classical music.  This vision grew into the Nova Voce mission to encourage, enhance, and celebrate the art of women’s voices in quality choral singing.

The first season resulted in a glorious debut concert “Celebrazione di Canto” at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church on May 4, 2003.  The program included the music of Bach, Mendelssohn, Randall Thompson, and contemporary spirituals.  Nova Voce has since performed annually a candlelight Christmas concert and a spring concert, as well as other performances by special invitation.

In August 2003, the organizational growth of Nova Voce was formalized by becoming incorporated which led the way to official status as a non-profit organization.  Leadership has been provided by an elected Board of Directors and dedicated volunteers who share the commitment to Nova Voce’s mission and goals.

The Nova Voce mission includes fostering student interest by providing opportunities for musical growth. In this pursuit, NV encourages high school and college student membership (age 17 minimum) in the ensemble, as well as guest performances by student instrumentalists and student vocal ensembles.
